History
Denargo Market has always been a magnetic location. For much of the 20th century, this site was home to Denver’s largest food market, housing more than 500 grower stands. In July of 1971, however, a four-alarm fire destroyed the market, and the site became largely industrial or vacant.
Returning this area once again to a vibrant gathering place, the new Denargo Market will be a day-to-night destination for all ages featuring a diverse mix of office, residential, dining, shopping and play opportunities alongside the South Platte River.
Embracing the power of Denargo Market’s riverside location and protected mountain views, the design further sets aside more than four acres of permanent, thoughtfully designed public open air, green spaces and riverfront accessibility, ensuring those vital elements will forever be part of the public experience.
